First thought: this is me. This is precisely how I feel.
Second thought: this is how I feel some of the time. And It's not like I want to be in lots of real world (and physical) relationships. But connection is important. Feeling valued is important.
Third thought: Look at all these notes -194,321 in 3 months. Even allowing for doubles (a 'like' and a reblog by the same person) that's a hell of a lot of people feeling the same way.
Fourth thought: It's a relief to know other people feel the same way and that someone has put it out there for us to know we're not alone
Fifth thought: It's not even true for most of these people. I hope they know that it's not true, certainly not true all the time.
Sixth thought: I really ought to take my own advice and recognise that it's not true for me either, certainly not to the extent I often believe it to be.
Seventh thought: Needs to be shared more. Shall put it on LJ. Holy crap, it's a rare day I find something quite so thought proving on Tumblr.

Defiance 1.6: Kinda fillerish, IMO?
brief spoilersCollapse )

Elementary 1.23-1.24: Welp, anyone doubting that this show is a decontruction of the Sherlock Holmes canon and the genius/wrangler dynamic has hopefully been convinced?

spoilersCollapse )

Murder on the Homefront: This is either a stealth Sherlock Holmes adaptation set in 1940 in which Watson is a female reporter who Holmes absconds with form a crime scene to make his new assistant (short version: "Hey there, you didn't faint at the sight of blood and can type. You're my new assistant!" "Uhm, what?") or a fanfic set during the Blitz in which Nancy Drew is Holmes's protegee. Either works. So, yes. Terribly short (Only two episodes! Possibly set up for sequels? That the title isn't something related to the actual mystery plot but rather to the general concept gives me hope.) BBC miniseries about a serial killer who carves swastikas on his victims' tongues and a pathologist who uses early forensics (and girl reporters) to catch him. I am exceptionally iffy on the portrayal of the sole POC in the series, but otherwise enjoyed it considerably. It would probably appeal to fans of Foyle's War and/or The Bletchley Circle, though it has a bit more action and humor than those two, and isn't quite as well written as either.

Revolution 1.18: And once again, Revolution has an episode that has little to do with the promo. (And that was a better episode than the promo would leave you to believe.)

spoilersCollapse )

And I think everything I'm watching except Defiance, Revolution and Continuum is on hiatus.  Maybe i'll finally catch up on Bomb Girls and Nikita, not to mention the last couple episodes of Beauty and the Beast.

Got a lot of work done today. Changed the bedspread, did some cleaning, did a ton of laundry, finally filed the claim report for the race I didn't run, and wrote some thank you notes. (My MOPS group gave me a lovely pot of flowers with some gift cards in it. So sweet!) PLUS I got writing done and took the kids to the park for an hour! I am a little amazed at myself.

I really need to get back on BSGlee. I want to finish it, even though I've broken up with Glee. This chapter is a little hard, because it's Sam's chapter, and I started writing this back in S2. Sam doesn't seem like the same character as he was in S2. Granted, I've really beat him up (I have tortured Sam pretty badly in the background), and he's gone through a lot of significant experiences, but in S2 he just struck me as this nice guy of average intelligence, and in S4 he's like the male Brittany. I'm sticking with his S2 characterization because otherwise this story doesn't really work, but it still frustrates me to knowingly write way OOC, even if the writers did it first.

I need to start moving on my ship swap fic, too. June 15 will be here faster than I think. And this one I WILL keep short. (Unlike the "ficlet" that was supposed to be Saul and Hoshi forming a friendship and taking BSG AU. Yeah. That one's 5000 words now. :P )

I'm bored, so a meme from ignipes: I currently have 90 works archived at AO3. Pick a number from 1 (the most recent) to 90 (the first thing I posted there), and I'll tell you three things I currently like about it.

I hear that everything's up to date in Kansas City, so I'll be headed that way tomorrow to see for myself.

ConQuest beckons; KC's annual regional convention, one of the best. Should be a good time. Patrick Rothfuss is GOH, John Picacio will be there, along with Brad Denton, Caroline Spector, and all of my old KC friends and partners in crime. I'll be doing a reading, doing a panel, eating too much barbeque, drinking too much bheer.

And even before the con, we'll have the road trip. I will be hitting the road with my Aussie friends, and driving right through the heart of Tornado Alley, which should be an... ah... adventure. If you're in Oklahoma or Kansas and think you see me passing by, you may be right. The Big Well beckons... along with Dorothy's House, Pancake Boulevard, the Cosmodrome, and the Elevator of Terror (you can't make this stuff up).

Hello Writers! I am feeling out of touch with everyone's projects. What are you all writing these days? Anyone working on anything new you'd like to tell us about? For those continuing current projects, how's the progress?

Any news to share?

Happy birthday kindness_says and pirateygoodness!

True story: I sometimes forget that not everything is a phone. Pretty regularly, I'll be looking for something (most recently my earmuffs) and think, "I know, I'll just call it." And that seems like a really good idea until I remember that you can't actually call something if it's not a phone.

Basically what I'm saying is, why isn't everything a phone? I'M COLD AND I JUST WANT MY EARMUFFS OKAY.

I went to go take a shower and in the process tossed some ~undergarments~ in the sink to hand wash, stoppered the sink, turned on the tap, and then hopped in the show. I exited the shower to find that I had a half and inch of water on the floor and had completely flooded one of my cabinet drawers.

In other news, in case you haven't seen it, here is the Teen Wolf season 3 trailer:

I was trolling through the Star Trek: Into Darkness Kink Meme, and there is only ONE (!) straight Spock/Uhura prompt.

And fandom, adding 'please have Spock/Uhura break up amicably' and 'Spock/Kirk (Uhura)' does not make me side eye you ANY LESS.

I just wanted Spock and Uhura being a badass functional established couple (in space!) Was I the only one who noticed and flailed over the moment in the movieRead more...Collapse )
